"Now boys, be good to the tourists!"

We had a great time at the Ozark Heritage Days festival at the Big Spring unit of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways. If you haven't been there, Big Spring is about 4miles south of Van Buren, and was the site of a CCC Camp during the Depression.

The festival included traditional Ozarks music, dance, storytelling (that's us!) and all manner of skills and craft demonstrations. Folks were mightly friendly and seemed to be enjoying themselves. Champ & I even took our turn on a cross-cut saw just to prove that we could do a hard-days' work (if we wanted to!)

We even got some fishing in on Saturday morning on the Current River -- we didn't catch anything, but the river was nice and cool.

We even got to visit with noted Ozark humorist Mitch Jayne, who gave us some sage advice -- "Now boys, be good to the tourists!" -- which sounds almost like a title for one of Vance Randolph's books!

We'll be back down in that neck of the woods soon -- stay tuned for details!
